Do-it-yourself porn production is a growing trend, reports KATU News in Portland, Ore., and some producers get into it out of financial desperation, they say. One mentioned in this report started when she was 17. KATU cites psychologists as saying there’s danger to DIY porn, “both to the viewer and the provider.” Dr. Ryan Hosley told KATU “that watchers of the videos become addicted because it shields them from developing real relationships – and the possible emotional pain that can sometimes go with them.” He also said that “many people who take part in the videos are acting out, due to abuse they suffered as children.” Even a porn producer cited in the report says she tells women she employs to “get out of the business when they can [because] it can lead to alcohol problems, drugs and lasting emotional issues.”
