Parents of teens probably knew this already, but the Pew Research Center just confirmed it for everybody: YouTube, Instagram and Snapchat are US 13-17 year-olds' top social media picks now – at 85%, 72% and 69%, respectively. Millennials’ top 10 apps at the turn of the year
Youth digital research firm YPULSE's "most clicked article of 2015" didn't hold a lot of surprises, but it might be useful to note teens' and millennials' top picks here at the turn of the year. Nothing formal and scientific, but a quick up-to-the-minute snapshot: To get a handle on current social media use by teens and young adults, Silicon Valley investor Gary Tan blogged, he conducted a little survey with DIY market research startup Survata. If Web users' use of "AddThis" is a measure of how people share media – and Ad Age thinks it is – then Facebook accounts for more than half (52%) of our media-sharing, but "Twitter was up 577% this year" overall (13.5% of sharing) and accounted for 52% of media-sharing in Japan, interestingly.
